How To Achieve Your Goals

08:00

As the first month of 2017 comes to an end, I thought I should check back in on those New Year's resolutions we set just a few weeks ago. Forgotten about them already? Or have you been riding the whole 'New Year, New Me' wave?

2017 Goal Planner

I would have to say that I've definitely felt so much more motivated to achieve my goals this year. It's inevitable that things will not always go to plan but daily progress (however small) is so rewarding!

If you have been slacking a little on taking action towards achieving your goals, just remember that it's never too late. As much as I love the idea of the new year bringing a fresh start, every day is essentially a fresh start if you really want it to be, right?

Here are 3 simples steps that will help you refocus and get back on track:

1. Break down large goals into smaller daily actions - Sometimes focusing on a large goal can feel a little daunting and overwhelming. If this is the case, it's best to work backwards and figure out the smaller steps you need to take in order to get there.

For example, 'I want to be healthier, fitter and stronger'. You might want to start off by switching your afternoon snack from a chocolate bar to a piece of fruit. Then maybe try incorporating a green smoothie (recipe here) into your everyday routine. Once you have nailed that, try getting in a 30 minute walk every day. You get the idea?

2. Write it down - Take out your planner and write in daily, weekly and monthly targets. Having everything written down with specific dates is so much more effective than having vague ideas and lists floating around in that brain of yours! Also jot down your achievements at the end of each day and spend a few minutes thinking about how to make tomorrow even more successful.

3. Have a support network - Discuss your goals with close friends and family who will encourage and motivate you to push forward. Sometimes you just need a gentle nudge in the right direction to get you going or someone to turn to when things are a little rough.

How have you been getting on with your New Year's resolutions? Have you written out your goals? For anyone wondering, my beautiful planner is from T.K.Maxx and I have a shared a few others with you below :)

  3. Writing things down definitely helps me! If I feel overwhelmed I find writing a list of things I need to do or events coming up really lifts that worry! I literally get a better night sleep if I do it!

  6. So true that writing things down is essential. It just provides so much more clarity rather than like you said having things floating around in your brain!

  10. Breaking your goals down into little pieces is such good advice - that's how everything seems a little less daunting! I always do that at work too when it feels like home time is too far away haha - I just break the day down into little pieces (mostly tea break, lunch, afternoon snack... :D). x
